Church Services

Our Sunday service is from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. Tea and coffee is served afterwards and there is an opportunity to chat to one another.  Our service will be at 10.30am. Come and join us.  The service will also be available on zoom.  For zoom details please email gela.86latham@btinternet.com.

Church Accessibility

We have a disabled toilet and baby changing facilities.

We also have two ramps leading up to the doors of the building. The ramp on the right leads to the entrance hall. The ramp on the left (looking from the street) leads to the kitchen. The kitchen door doesn't have a lintel which helps people with electric chairs.

Major Tree work in East Leake Methodist Church Garden.
 
It is with regret that the East Leake Methodist Church Council have agreed that two trees in the church garden will need to be felled and other trees will need to be trimmed. The two trees that are to be felled are the false Acacia and the Maple which are on the left-hand side of the garden as you look from Main Street. These trees were planted when the old church was demolished in the 1960s and have now grown to maturity. Unfortunately, their roots are now spreading under adjacent buildings and expert advice has identified that these two trees represent a threat to building integrity and that the only solution is to have them cut down.
 
As the church is in a conservation area, the advice of technical officers at Rushcliffe Borough Council has been sought and they concur with the expert advice that the only solution is to have the trees cut down. The silver birch trees on the right-hand side of the garden will also need to be trimmed because their roots are already disturbing the path from the church to Main Street, and creating a trip-hazard. Because the church is extensively used by community groups of all ages, remedial action is necessary for public safety. Although the church has taken action to draw attention to the hazard, the only solution will be to take up and re-lay the path with material that will minimise the hazard. Trimming the silver birch trees will minimise future damage to the path.
 
The church is aware that cutting down the two mature trees will significantly alter the appearance of the garden and that people in East Leake will be upset at their removal.
Senior Steward Bryan Harrison said, “We are very sorry that the trees have to come down but the advice that we have had from the experts, the Borough Council and the conservation officers of the Methodist Church, that it’s the only way to prevent future damage to the church and adjacent buildings.”
 
Councillor Lesley Way, a Methodist Church member, has also advised the Church Council in her role as the District Councillor with particular responsibility for trees in this area. Councillor Way said, “I’m always sad to see the loss of mature trees in the East Leake area but regretfully it seems that all the advice is that these trees will have to be cut down to avoid future damage.”
